What is a LifeGroup?

A LifeGroup is an ongoing group of 6-12 people that meet regularly for fellowship, Bible study and prayer.  They are for adults of all ages, stages of life and maturity.  LifeGroups are our church's primary vehicle for personal spiritual growth and the way to help people get a sense of belonging and connection.

Why join a LifeGroup?

Do you desire community?
Do you want to make a difference?

LifeGroups bring people together to do four things in community: pray, share, study and serve, all in the name of Christ.  Community is an essential part of one's spiritual journey.  Becoming part of a LifeGroup means you can make a difference in the lives of other group members, in your own life, and through service to the metro and global community.

Some of the best friends you've never met are waiting to meet you in a LifeGroup!

How do I get involved in a LifeGroup?

There are four ways to get involved in a LifeGroup:
1.  Indicate interest on an Info Card.
2.  Attend First Steps.
3.  Attend a LifeGroup CONNECT.
4.  Click Here to submit your request to join a LifeGroup.

What is LifeGroup Connect?

LifeGroup CONNECT is a quarterly event where you will connect with others and form a LifeGroup.  The members of the LifeGroup will decide on a time to meet, a location and appropriate curriculum.  After connecting, a LifeGroup initially commits to meet for 6-8 sessions.  At the conclusion of those first 6-8 sessions, the group members decide if they want to continue together for an additional 16 to 22 months.  If not, then the group members can participate in the next LifeGroup CONNECT.

What happens at a LifeGroup Connect?

The Fellowship Hall will be sectioned according to group types; co-ed, men, women, family and other. Based upon your group preference, you'll go to that section. You will spend time meeting others whom you could potentially be in a group with. After mingling for a short time, groups form. With your new LifeGroup, you will plan your first meeting and spend some time getting to know one another.

When, where, and how often do LifeGroups meet?

LifeGroup members decide when, where, and how often their group meets.  LifeGroups meet Monday through Sunday and usually meet in one of the group member's homes.  LifeGroups meet 2-4 times a month.  Most LifeGroup meetings last about 1.5 to 2 hours.

What do LifeGroups study?

Each group chooses their own curriculum to study with guidance from the Discipleship Pastor.

How long does a LifeGroup exist?

LifeGroups who form during LifeGroup CONNECT initially commit to 6-8 sessions.  After the 6-8 sessions, the group members decide if they want to continue together for an additional 16 to 22 months.  Typically, LifeGroups last about 1-2 years.

How do LifeGroups add additional members?

We encourage LifeGroup members to invite people from their existing relationships first such as friends and neighbors.  If a LifeGroup still needs additional members, the LifeGroup leader can contact the Discipleship Pastor and let him/her know that they are open to new members.  LifeGroup leaders can also attend the next LifeGroup CONNECT.

Can I be a LifeGroup Leader?

Leaders are responsible for encouraging the group to have a deeper intimacy with God (Biblical understanding and application), building authentic community with each other (acceptance and accountability), and helping groups move outside themselves (care and compassion).

LifeGroup leaders must make the following affirmations:

1.  I know Jesus is my Savior and Lord.
2.  I am committed to remain a growing Christian.
3.  I consider Leesburg Community Church to be my church home.
4.  I understand the vision for Small Groups at LCC.
5.  I believe to the best of the my knowledge that God wants me involved here.
