Welcome to Upward Basketball & Cheerleading where every child is a winner. We are excited about another fantastic year coming up and hope you are making plans now to join us.

The Upward Basketball & Cheerleading League is for K-4th grade boys/girls.
What is Upward Basketball?
A league where every child plays.
Every child learns.
Every child is a winner.
Upward promotes character and self-esteem in every child by:
- Providing an evaluation system that promotes equal teams and opportunities
- Establishing a one-hour practice and game each week
- Implementing a substitution system for each team, allowing every child equal playing time
- Creating the opportunity for every child to learn the skills of the game
Today's sports culture has created a "win at all cost" mentality. However, Upward defines winning as learning and/or teaching lessons in the game of life. The emphasis is placed on having fun and good sportsmanship.
When your child plays Upward Basketball, He/she will be able to:
- Practice and play a game every week
- Get equal playing time
- Learn techniques to improve his/her basketball skills
- Receive special recognition awards after every game
- Develop new friendships
Along with this unique sports experience, your child will receive the following:
- Basketball T-shirt
- Upward shorts & jersey
- End-of-Season award
What is Upward Cheerleading?
Upward Cheerleading teaches the fundamentals of cheerleading by focusing on strong skill development and provides a safe, fun and affirming experience. Learn chants, motions, jumps, cheers and pom routines while making new friends!
- Upward Cheerleading squads are determined by age.
- Squads rotate the teams they cheer for throughout the season. Cheers encourage all players.
- There will be 2 Saturday morning clinics from 9-Noon offered to help the children learn the cheers, chants, etc. before the squads cheer at their first game. All cheerleaders are encouraged to attend both clinics.
- Upward practice promises to be a place where you will learn, cheer and have a lot of FUN! There will be one hour practice each week beginning the week of January 3, 2011.
- Upward Game Day-Let the Cheering begin! Games for Upward Cheerleaders will begin on January 23, one week after the first Upward Basketball games start. Games happen on Saturdays and last about one hour. Come dressed in your uniform and ready to cheer on the Upward teams. Right after the game, let your fans cheer you on as your coach recognizes you with Upward stars to place on your megaphone.
- Each cheerleader will receive a cheer top, cheer skort, poms, megaphone, and hair ribbon.
- Must attend one of the Cheerleader Sizing. See below.
